〈9/8〜9/10 Event Report〉THE BLUEKEEPERS 2025

From September 8th (Monday) to 11th (Thursday), “THE BLUEKEEPERS 2025” was held, an event that considered the future of the ocean from both a business and lifestyle perspective. Over the four-day event, global business media Forbes JAPAN and men’s lifestyle media OCEANS selected companies working on marine issues, and the selected companies presented their activities.

Forbes JAPAN×BLUE×TECHNOLOGY

On the first day, under the slogan “Come here to experience the cutting edge of BLUE,” Forbes JAPAN selected companies working on marine issues, and their representatives gave presentations. OP Biofactory Co., Ltd. presented their activities on “Marine Bioresource Exploration and Marine Environmental Improvement,” NTT Aqua Corporation presented on “Marine Conservation and the Future of Land-Based Aquaculture,” and Umitron Co., Ltd. presented on “Implementing Sustainable Aquaculture on Earth.” Following the presentations, representatives from each company participated in a talk session, discussing sustainable marine resources through the power of science.

OCEANS×BLUE×LIFESTYLE

For the first half of Tuesday, the 9th, OCEANS selected three companies focused on the ocean and lifestyle, working to change lives while addressing the future of the ocean. Representatives from JEPLAN Co., Ltd., which recycles resources using its unique PET chemical recycling technology; IIIThree Co., Ltd., which develops sustainable ocean-aged wine; and Sanyo Shokai Co., Ltd., the developer of ECOALF, a European sustainable fashion brand made exclusively from recycled and environmentally friendly natural materials, took the stage for presentations and a talk session. In the second half of the event, a special session featuring Takisada Nagoya, Bioworks, Mash Style Lab, and OCEANS was held, focusing on the theme of “The Future of Sustainable Fashion as Envisioned by Brands, Trading Companies, and Manufacturers.” They discussed environmental issues posed by the fashion industry.

THE BLUEKEEPERS AWARD 2025

On Wednesday, the 10th, “THE BLUEKEEPERS AWARD 2025” was held, honoring companies working to integrate ocean issues into everyday business and lifestyles. Five companies were awarded: Rengo Co., Ltd. for the Forbes JAPAN Award, Kitasanriku Factory Co., Ltd. for the OCEANS Award, Spaceshift Co., Ltd. for the INNOVATION Award, Nobergen Co., Ltd. for the LOCAL ENGAGEMENT Award, and Think Nature Co., Ltd. for the NEW LEADER Award.

After the award ceremony, talk sessions were held with the winners of the Forbes JAPAN Award, INNOVATION Award, and NEW LEADER Award, as well as the winners of the OCEANS Award and LOCAL ENGAGEMENT Award, deepening understanding of each company’s efforts. The event concluded with a speech and talk session by Eric Wang, CEO of RHINOSHIELD, a Taiwanese accessories brand committed to addressing ocean issues. Strategies for transforming marine conservation from a “cost” to a “value” were discussed.
